Since 1911, International Women’s Day (March 8) celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a call to galvanize for equality and collective action in classrooms, boardrooms, government, media and communities. Countries with greater equity are economically more prosperous as well as safer and healthier for all. #BalanceforBetter
We will celebrate International Women’s Day at Yale-NUS with a series of events. Take time to review the exhibitions in the library and Elm Courtyard. Join our panel discussion on Women in Science at 12 – 1pm at Elm Rector’s Common. Welcome the inspiring Nirmala Rao, Vice Chancellor of the Asian University for Women in an evening event that also features students from Robin Zheng’s class Oppression and Injustice and Fay Lee (class of 2020) performing piano works (register here). I look forward to seeing many of you there and other exciting events forthcoming.
